Facial surgery is done to smooth wrinkles, lift sagging skin on various areas of
the face, or remove excess skin around the eyes or in other places. There are many different procedures that are in a plastic surgeon’s tool box that can affect specific areas of concern. One major misconception that many patients have is that a face lift is going to affect your entire face from the brow to the chin. In reality, a full facial rejuvenation often includes a range of different procedures in combination, with the face lift only being one of those procedures.

Being realistic about your outcome is a high-priority conversation you should
always have with your plastic surgeon. It is of utmost importance for a patient to understand what surgery is capable of changing and to what degree. If you expect something that is impossible to achieve, you are setting yourself up for failure. Don’t plan on that wedding, vacation, or 20-year class reunion for right after your
surgery. Most plastic surgery procedures are not something your body can recover from overnight. There will be a few days that you are barely able to move around to take care of yourself. You may not be able to climb stairs or even get out of bed without help. For a few days after surgery, you will feel totally incapacitated. Cosmetic surgery can be a major life-changing experience. You will be riding an emotional roller coaster on which you may experience depression, frustration, and excitement. So it’s important to be well prepared psychologically for this
experience. |
