Denise’s Tummy Tuck:
“I’ve wanted to do this for 15 years!”
When Denise T. had a tummy tuck in May of 2006, it was the culmination of 15 years of wishing and hoping.
“My weight has been up and down all my life,” relates the 43-year-old mother of two. “I’ve lost and gained so many pounds over the years, but even when I lost the weight, I had a bunch of loose skin that just wouldn’t go away. Five days a week at the gym wouldn’t cut it.”

Finding a Way
An office manager at a Bakersfield-area nursing home, Denise works hard. So does her husband. “But with a family, I just didn’t have the money for plastic surgery.”
Eventually, she says, she and her husband refinanced their home. With the run-up in real estate values they had built up considerable equity, and there was some extra money available.
“I told my husband that having a tummy tuck was the first thing I wanted to do,” Denise says. “He was upset at first, but I explained that this was a big thing for me and how I felt about myself.” So he grudgingly agreed to her having the procedure.

How Denise Found Beautologie
When asked how she had heard about Beautologie and Dr. Shah, Denise laughingly admitted that Dr. Shah had performed breast augmentation on her husband’s ex-wife, so she checked him out for her own tummy tuck, scheduling an initial consultation.
“When I first met with him, he made me feel so comfortable,” she says. “He was very caring about my needs and concerns. And I didn’t feel embarrassed to take off my clothes and show him my problem area.”
A Common “Problem Area” for Moms
Denise’s “problem area” was a common one for women who have had children and gained and lost a lot of weight. No matter how much they exercise and diet, the lax skin of their abdomen just won’t spring back into shape. A tummy tuck is an effective solution, and Dr. Shah explained what to expect from the surgery and recovery. Denise’s surgery was, as doctors like to say, uneventful.
“I Feel So Much Better About Myself”
“I am so happy with the results,” she says today, a year and a half after her procedure. “The best thing about having had this surgery is how it’s increased my self-esteem. I’m still a little self-conscious, but I really do feel so much better about myself and how I look.” She even admits that she now wears clothes that are a bit tighter and more revealing.
And what does her husband think?
“He can see the difference in how I look and admits that he’s impressed with the results,” Denise says.
Smiling, she adds, “He thinks I look good.”
