Despite its notoriety, many people are still relatively uneducated on the specifics and facts of liposuction. Liposuction is widely popular and widely successful, and it is often performed in connection with many other procedures (especially with other body augmentations). Liposuction is a fantastic tool to help shape the body’s outline into a more pleasing form, but it is not for weight loss. It can make a big difference on the contour of the body, but patients shouldn’t expect to see a drastic loss in weight.

Specifically, liposuction is performed by placing a small tube under the skin. This tube then sucks out the fat underneath the skin, leaving less thickness and creating a more pleasing contour to the part of the body on which the procedure is performed. The procedure itself can last anywhere from 30 minutes to over 2 hours, depending on how much work a patient is getting done.
