Dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm are a well known way to quickly eliminate wrinkles in the forehead, around the mouth and near the corners of the eyes (crows feet).

But fewer people realize that fillers can also restore volume to the hollowness under the eyes.

This area of the face, called the tear trough or nasojugal groove, is the area of eyelid-cheek junction closest to the nose. Many people have a harsh line in this location which leads to an unflattering, tired appearance in the upper face. Some have a slight groove while others have a very deep groove. It is often hereditary and usually worsens with age.

By adding volume to the skin in this area, fillers can quickly create a more refreshed, less tired look. Skin appears smoother and the eyes seem brighter, because the tear trough fades away.

Injection with Botox takes about 15 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Botox begins blocking nerve transmission to specific muscles, putting those muscles to rest for the next few months. Although most women are delighted with the results from their breast augmentation surgery, some experience less than optimal results. According to studies cited by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), as many as one quarter of the 380,000 U.S. women who undergo breast augmentation each year have an additional surgery during the first five years after implantation.

There are many different things that can go wrong in breast augmentation surgery. Among the most common are shifting of the implant, excessive scarring, drooping of the breast, asymmetrical implants and implant rupture.

These problems tend to occur more frequently in procedures performed by surgeons without extensive experience or certification in cosmetic procedures. Sometimes, though, they can arise after surgery performed by even the most skilled surgeon. This is because many factors can influence the outcome of breast augmentation, including trauma to the breast following surgery, excessive compression of the breast during mammography, failure of the patient to properly care for breasts post surgery, and the aging process itself.

Correcting a breast augmentation offers a way for patients to finally achieve the results they desire. Many times, it is possible to completely eradicate the problem so that patients experience the full benefit of breast augmentation surgery; in other cases, a complete correction isnt possible but significant improvement can still be obtained.

Some women have experienced good results from breast augmentation, but would like to replace their saline implants with silicone. The FDA re-approved silicone breast implants late last year after they were pulled from the market in 1992 on concerns of rupturing.
