DO YOU MISS YOUR PRE PREGNANCY BODY?

By Dr. Darshan Shah

Having children is a beautiful thing, but many women don’t like some of the changes they see afterwards in their body shape and skin.  Women who have two or more children especially seem to yearn for their pre-pregnancy body to return.  Even women who only gained a healthy amount of weight (20 - 30lbs) when pregnant often have loose skin that just doesn’t seem to go away with diet and exercise.  We talk to women every day that say they have lost their pregnancy weight through diet and exercise, but just can’t get rid of the “muffin top” or extra skin that hangs over their waistline.  Unfortunately, no amount of exercise can tighten stretched skin or remove stretch marks. It is a known fact that it is only through surgery that this loose skin can be removed and the muscles that have been stretched during pregnancy can be tightened to pre pregnancy form.  When women see that they can have a flat stomach and more contoured waist again, they are excited and optimistic.  The surgery that we perform on a daily basis to help remove stretch marks, tighten the muscles and flatten the abdomen is called a tummy tuck. With every tummy tuck that we do, we also perform liposuction in the “love handle” or “muffin top” area to create a more contoured back.  The end result is a beautiful tight stomach that sometimes looks even better than the pre-pregnancy tummy!

Another common complaint is that after having children women feel like their breasts are no longer the same.  In most cases they have lost size and fullness.  During pregnancy and immediately afterwards a women’s breasts become enlarged and prepare for the natural process of breast feeding a baby.  Even for women who choose not to breast feed, their bodies go through the same process.  Therefore, after one or more pregnancies a woman’s breasts usually lose their original shape and firmness, and size.  It is not uncommon for women to lose 2 or 3 cup sizes after breast feeding, leaving a loose skin envelope and the appearance of sagging.  A breast augmentation can give a woman back the breasts she had pre pregnancy and even enhance her breasts to the size and fullness she desires.  Breast augmentation can also flatten the stretch marks on the breast to decrease the appearance of them.  Occasionally, we can also do a lift (if it is required) to bring the nipple and areola to a more natural lifted position.

At Beautologie we offer the Mommy Makeover procedure to address all of these issues that so many women struggle with post pregnancy.  In addition to the tummy tuck and breast augmentation, we perform liposuction to help correct or contour a woman’s hips and buttocks area if she desires.  The Mommy Makeover is one of our most popular surgeries and we know it is life changing for many people.  We often get letters, phone calls and comments on our Facebook from both patients and their husbands or loved ones saying just how much it changed their lives.

With a renewed sense of pride and confidence a woman has even more to offer her family and friends.  Let’s face it; moms are usually the first ones up in the morning and the last ones to bed at night!  By nature they are usually the caregivers in the family taking care of everyone, but themselves. If you are a mom and want to see how a Mommy Makeover can change your life call Beautologie today and make your appointment for a consultation.  We have personally done thousands of Mommy Makeovers and have seen how this combination of procedures can really make a positive impact not only on your body, but also your self-confidence.
