Let’s talk a little bit about cellulite and a non-invasive way to dramatically improve the appearance of your skin! Cellulite is a major problem for many women and an incredibly hard thing to get rid of. To most, it seems as though it’s much easier to develop more cellulite that to get rid of it! Cellulite is made of deposits of fat and other material trapped in “pockets” of connective tissue beneath the skin. The pockets are formed by tiny fibers of connective tissue that attach the undersurface of the skin to the tissue underneath. Over time, the fat volume increases causing progressive dimpling. Cellulite affects about 90% of women after they reach puberty.
So, why are women more prone to develop cellulite than men? The answer is, genetics! A woman’s skin is built differently to help store fat and expand during pregnancy and breast feeding. When estrogen levels fluctuate in the body, the skin retains fluid, the connective tissue hardens, and blood and lymphatic circulation is decreased. This causes fat cell storage to be favored, leading to the development of cellulite. Although there are many creams and potions out there, none have been proven to work. Only exercise and dietary modification seems to foster a modest decrease the amount of cellulite.
The good news is that Endermologie can help! Endermologie is a non-invasive procedure using a combination of aggressive massage and suction to improve the health of connective tissue. Endermologie is performed by a qualified Endermologie Therapist using the Cellu M6 Keymodule machine, a hand-held motorized treatment head with specially designed rollers to gently lift and roll the skin.
The sessions last 35 minutes, treating the entire body, but focusing on the problem areas. Realistic results include disrupting the bands that create the “pockets” of fat, smoothing the skin’s appearance, and improving circulation. Many people achieve dramatic improvement in 10-15 sessions. For the best results it is recommended that patients start with two sessions per week and participate in healthy living strategies, which the therapist describes in detail at the time of consultation. Patients are encouraged to drink two liters of water per day and do a minimum of 4 days of cardiovascular exercise per week for optimum results and appearance.
Rest assured that you are in the best possible hands with Michelle, our certified Massage & Endermologie Therapist at Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center. She has been practicing for over 7 years and truly believes massage is relaxing, helpful, and important for overall wellness. Her past clients swear by Endermologie and her trusted expertise.
Even though men are not prone to develop cellulite, they might have loose skin, or some fat trapped under the skin, that can be improved by Endermologie. Clinical experience has shown excellent results for problem areas such as “love handles” and loose pectoral tissue. It is an excellent skin toner, therefore it is a good option e to treat the skin after weight loss that resulted in loose skin.
Endermologie also is great after liposuction! Many patients begin a series of Endermologie treatments one month after liposuction to speed healing, decrease swelling, and achieve better and smoother results. Since Endermologie is a non-invasive procedure, the results are temporary, not permanent. We suggest that you approach cellulite treatment as a lifestyle change. Just as we go to have our hair cut on an ongoing basis, we need our cellulite treated regularly as well. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and 1-2 Endermologie maintenance treatments per month are recommended to help maintain the results achieved.
